NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, December 17, 2009 – University Orthopaedic Associates, LLC (UOA) today announced a new partnership with Rider and Rutgers Universities to provide a series of clinics on sports medicine for young athletes and their families throughout the state of New Jersey. Expert orthopaedic physicians from UOA, skilled athletic trainers from Rider and Rutgers, and various athletes from each university will share information on sports and overall health throughout this series of clinics, seminars, and exhibits. The events within the series will take place throughout the year and will correspond with various school and community sport seasons.

The first event under this partnership is National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 14, 2010, at Rider University’s Student Recreation Center in Lawrenceville. This free event is open to all girls ages 5 to 17 and their families, and will celebrate the role of girls and women in athletics. A variety of sports clinics for young athletes will be offered, along with concurrent break-out sessions for parents and siblings about common health issues and injury prevention tailored to the female athlete. The event will run from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and afterward attendees and their families will be provided with complimentary tickets to the Rider University and Loyola University Maryland women’s basketball game at 2 p.m. To pre-register for National Girls and Women in Sports Day call 609.896.5054 or e-mail voorhees@rider.edu .
